Descriptive Features:

  • body suboval
  • head more or less produced anteriorly, yellowish
  • 2 ocelli present dorsally on head, close to compound eyes
  • pronotum short, rugose
  • well-developed, exposed meso-scutellum, usually dark brownish
  • hemelytra yellowish brown with darker patches
  • scutellum and hemelytra covered with numerous small black spinelets
  • fore tibia and tarsus fused forming an elongate pala fringed with long hairs
  • cuticular blades present on hind tarsi
  • male abdomen and genital segments strongly asymmetrica, asymmetry usually dextral but sinistral asymmetry may occur (D. pedderensis)
  • male strigil present, small
  • Total length: 3.6 - 8.4 mm
