Descriptive Features:

  • 12-14 pairs of premental setae
  • labial palps with 8-9 dentations, set with groups of setae
  • 8 palpal setae
  • mid-dorsal abdominal spines or humps absent
  • lateral spines on abdominal segments 8 and 9, spines on segment 9 almost as long as mid-dorsal length of segment 9
  • lateral triangular sclerites detectable on segments 3-6 and 9 (missing from segments 7 and 8)
  • segment 10 somewhat sunken into segment 9
  • both species lack distinct mid-dorsal abdominal spines,however, the lateral abdominal spines of P. jacksoniensis are larger, and there are no lateral triangular sclerites on the ventral surface of segments 7 and 8
  • Total length 19 - 20 mm
