Funding Body

Duration

September 2007 - August 2009

Outcomes

Monitoring information is regularly provided to managers as the four wetlands that make up the Euston Lakes system undergo a drying phase in response to their isolation as part of drought water recovery.

Summary

Water levels, water quality, blue-green algae, fish, vegetation (river red gum and understorey communities) and waterbirds are being monitored regularly by MDFRC at four wetlands of the Euston Lakes system (Taila Ck, Dry Lake, Lake Benanee and Washpen Ck) as the wetland system undergoes a management-induced drying phase. The Euston Lakes were selected for water recovery as part of the drought contingency measures in response to the current drought.
