Summary

The objective of the project is to determine the current loading of instream woody habitat for large bodied native fish, particularly Murray cod, to provide baseline data for future management.  Future management may include options for the relocation of large woody debris or identification of potential resnagging areas. The results of this investigation will feed in to the concurrent Geomorphic Assessment of the study area. This will enable an assessment of weather instream habitat can be used to reduce the geomorphic impact of high flows. A reduction in the geomorphic impact of high flows could be achieved by realignment or relocation of existing habitat or introducing additional woody habitat in order to reduce erosion and protect banks.
