Summary

The Mitta Mitta Monitoring project will monitor the macroinvertebrate communities in the Mitta Mitta Valley below Dartmouth Dam in order to detect and assess changes in river health resulting from either the operation of Dartmouth Dam or local catchment related impacts.

Four sites on the Mitta Mitta River and one site each on Snowy Creek, Wills Branch Creek and Callaghans Creek will be sampled twice yearly in spring and autumn using AUSRIVAS rapid bioassessment methods to collect the macroinvertebrate samples followed by laboratory identification to species level, or lowest possible taxonomic resolution.

In-situ physical-chemical data and water samples will be collected and physical habitat descriptions prepared for each sampling event.
