Summary

The purpose of the project is to develop a comprehensive and flexible environmental monitoring program for Barmah Wetland.

The Monitoring Program will be developed by addressing five tasks sequentially:

  1. Undertake a literature search to identify current policy and management requirements for environmental monitoring at Barmah Wetland and to rank these in importance at appropriate scales.
  2. Critique past and current monitoring programs at Barmah Wetland.
  3. Define the scope of the Program and its ecological objectives and targets, and compare the suitability of different scientific monitoring options to achieve these objectives and targets.
  4. Convene a scientific panel to review the Barmah Wetland Environmental Monitoring Program.
  5. Develop an ongoing Barmah Wetland Environmental Monitoring Program.
