Summary

Phase 1 of this project has three stages:

  1. Literature review to identify target species for river habitat rehabilitation, specifically habitat preference of Broken River fish species, relationship between large woody debris and fish, and re-snagging options to maximize biotic diversity and abundance within the Broken River.
  2. Identify rehabilitation targets and sites for restoration work and monitoring sites using data collected by previous MDFRC projects; use this data and aerial photographs provided by GBCMA to classify reaches into 3 or 4 categories; recommend rehabilitation priorities for each reach; conduct field survey of potential sites; and design monitoring program for biological assessment.
  3. Prepare draft review and recommendations by 30 December 2005, for submission to Steering Committee.
