Summary

The objective of Phase 2 of this project is to determine the impacts of re-snagging on the ecology of the Broken River by monitoring fish and macroinvertebrate communities.  Re-snagging (by the addition of Large Woody Debris (LWD) is due to commence in mid-June 2006.  Fish will be sampled prior to the addition of LWD and then bi-monthly.  Data collected will be abundance, richness and size classes of fish present (to indicate changes in age structure of the populations).  Macroinvertebrates will be collected annually in Spring using snag bags and taxonomic identification will be to Family level.
