Summary

This new project is a follow-on from the "Ecological Model and Data Assessment Broken Creek" (M/BUS/69-2) described above, and will examine the links between Azolla growth and water quality in the Broken Creek.  In particular, the role of sediments in nutrient dynamics of the creek, the contribution of sediment processes to Azolla growth and the links that Azolla has with the sediment quality will be examined.

The project will produce a detailed conceptual model that outlines:

  • Key factors leading to the growth and decline of Azolla in Broken Creek
  • Key water quality parameters.
  • Interaction between water quality and Azolla.
  • Ecological status of Azolla in the Broken Creek.
