This genus is represented in Australian waters by a single species, Austrohebrus apterus Andersen & Weir.

Descriptive Features:

  • suboval bugs, length
  • apterous
  • body dull coloured
  • head elongate, distinctly extended in front of eyes
  • ocelli reduced to a pair of semicircular pits close to inner margins of eyes
  • eyes relatively small, spherical
  • antennae long, subflagelliform, segments 1 and 2 relatively short, stout, segments 3 and 4 long, slender, segment 4 subdivided in middle by constricted, membranous zone
  • ventral surface of head with a pair of prominent bucculae
  • rostrum long, slender, reaching base of abdomen
  • pronotum short, length less than 1/2 head length
  • metanotum short
  • legs relatively long, femora moderately incrassate
  • abdomen relatively long, mediotergites 4 with median scent orifice
  • Total length: 1.6 - 1.7 mm
