This genus is represented in Australian freshwaters by a single species, Austronepa angusta Hale.

Descriptive Features:

  • body elongate ovate, flattened
  • respiratory siphon comparatively short, about 1/3 of body length
  • head about as wide as anterior pronotum
  • antennae 3-segmented, segment 2 with a short finger-like projection
  • pronotum narrow, with humeral width less than its median length, all margins concave
  • fore femur about as long as prothorax, with an acute thorn-like spine in middle, with a longitudinal groove extending about halfway along its inner margin
  • distance between mid and hind coxae broader than width of a coxa
  • fore wings heavily coriaceous, membrane opaque with numerous cells and brachiating veins
  • Total length: 17 - 17.3 mm
