Lyn Smith - Senior Technical Coordinator




Lyn Smith is the Senior Technical Coordinator based at The Murray-Darling Freshwater Research Centre in Wodonga, Victoria, Australia.

Lyn manages the technical staff and coordinates techncial support for research work across the Centre, including safety, equipment, training, permits and compliance reporting. Lyn currently has an additional role of Project Manager for MDB EWKR.

Prior to commencing at MDFRC Lyn Smith has held positions at:

  • Webster’s veterinary Vaccines, Castle Hill, Sydney.
  • CSIRO Division of Horticulture, North Ryde Sydney
  • CSIRO Division of Plant Industry, Black Mountain, Canberra

Since 2003, Lyn has been based at The Murray-Darling Freshwater Research Centre, with a variety of roles; Research Technician, Technical Supervisor, Quality & Safety Systems Advisor, before taking on her current role. Lyn has been responsible for development of a NATA accredited quality assurance system for the Macroinvertebrate Laboratory, the online Bug Guide with its resources and the original MDFRC website. She has also worked on various biomonitoring projects and scoping studies.
