Rebecca Durant - Aquatic Research Technician




Current activities

Rebecca Durant is a Senior Aquatic Research Technician based at The Murray-Darling Freshwater Research Centre in Wodonga, Victoria, Australia.

Rebecca’s main area of research/technical areas of responsibility are project management, report writing, data collection and analysis for aquatic macrophytes and riparian vegetation.

Rebecca’s research topics of special interest include:

  • Wetland ecology
  • Vegetation assessments and experiments
  • Primary production


For the last 7.5 years, Rebecca has been based at The Murray-Darling Freshwater Research Centre where she has worked on drought monitoring of disconnected wetlands, effects of weir pool manipulations, ecological assessments, management plans for wetlands and review of environmental factors. Rebecca has also conducted aquatic macrophyte experiments, as well as sampling zooplankton and processing of macroinvertebrates.

Academic qualifications

  • Bachelor of Environmental Science (Hons 1) from Charles Sturt University in 2006
  • Associate Diploma of Business from Cairns College of TAFE in 1994
